Background information!
I have always been interested in looking after my skin, as I had very dry and sensitive skin as a teenager. No oily skin or acne for me! Just dry, flaky skin. I used Anne French milky cleanser with cotton balls, followed by Simple moisturiser. I would exfoliate with Aapri peach facial scrub – ring any bells?! We didn’t really use foundation back in the 1980’s, just blue eyeliner and mascara with pink lipstick. Eyebrows were plucked thin.
Due to my dry skin I always had to use moisturiser, however SPF in skin products was not about! We would only use ‘sun cream’ when on holiday, using the same product as on the body, starting with factor 15, then going down to 8 then 4, to get the deepest tan possible. Burning was always the first stage, just tried not to burn too much as it would delay being able to sit in the sun for 8 hours a day, rotating like a kebab. The aim was to come back as brown as possible!
As the years went by, I invested more into my skin products, usually from department stores or Boots. Like Clarins or Clinique. I would use a day cream and a thick nightcream, one of them gave me milia around my eyes (closed whiteheads) that my beauty therapist friend had to prick out with a needle.
Fast forward a few more years, and the skincare beauty business is colossal, worth billions of pounds. The choice is bewildering, each product proclaiming they are the best or highest rated, some are well known brands that have massive budgets to advertise, and some are exorbitant but have celebrity endorsements. Or celebrities themselves get on the band wagon to sell their own brand.
When I was trained in laser treatments at my first private position as Cosmetic Nurse Specialist, I needed a high protection SPF50 to provide to my patients undergoing laser or micro-needling treatment. Laser can ‘excite’ the melanin (brown pigment) cells in the skin, therefore sun must be avoided and a daily application of high level SPF reduces the risk of hyperpigmentation (excessive brown spots). I researched with company I would like to use, and after careful consideration, spoke to Aestheticare regarding their Heliocare range. This was back in 2009, and I have been with the company ever since!
Fast forward to today, and Aestheticare have the fabulous AllskinMed range, (amongst others) utilising patented ingredients in amazing formulations. These work so well, and are very popular. Its very important to nourish and protect our skin especially as we age.
AllskinMed is only available from trained professionals, who can decide what are the best products to use for each individuals skin concerns, and these can be adjusted over time.
Its very easy – Four steps – Prepare with Cleanser, Renew with serum or ampoules, Hydrate with cream and Protect in the morning with SPF50. It will literally take a few minutes each day.
Alongside the skincare range, we have introduced the AllskinMed Signature Facials – The Dermal Rescue with Light Therapy and The Vitamin Energiser with Light Therapy. Both include epidermal microneedling using the electronic dermastamp pen.
Microneedling was used back in 1905 by a German dermatologist to help treat acne scars. In 1996 a Canadian plastic surgeon noticed significant improvement in facial scarring when the skin was punctured with tattoo needles. Shortly after, the first microneedling device was introdued, a small needle stamp and a dermaroller to stimulate collagen production. These skin needling techniques have since become internationally recognised, a safe and effective way to treat fine lines/wrinkles, scars, open pores, stretch marks, improving skin texture.
Dr Lance Setterfield is one of the worlds Dermal Needling experts, and he is an educator, skin treatment specialist and international speaker. He is an advocate for the benefits of micro-needling and he has found that more superficial depths (epidermal) still obtain impressive results. We use epidermal micro-needling in our advanced facials.
We use the Electronic Dermastamp pen which offers precision with depth and delivery, ability to change the pens speed and depth in tiny increments, depending on skin area treated. With no down-time.
In combination with the AllskinMed products and high-strength ampoules, ending with the Dermalux TriWave – the ‘daddy’ of all LED Phototherapy Devices!
This is a non-invasive treatment that uses therapeutic light energy to trigger the skins natural rejuvenation and repair processes.
Just one twenty minute session can stimulate 200% of your collagen.
The unique three wavelengths offered can be tailored to suit many different skin concerns including acne, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, scars, pain, rejuvenation and pigmentation.
