Profhilo is a pure hyaluronic acid (HA) injectable treatment manufactured by Italian pharmaceutical company IBSA. They make their own raw HA and continually do research and development.
It was launched in the UK in 2016 and I keenly followed its progression until I decided to train in it early 2019.
Due to our continued loss of collagen and skin hydration from our early 40’s, I felt Profhilo’s intense hydration and collagen stimulation would be ideal to add to my treatment portfolio, particularly for ageing necks.
Profhilo is indicated for improvement of skin quality, laxity and hydration. It has a unique ‘bioremodelling’ quality that continues after the initial burst of hydration from the Profhilo has settled.
It has recently gained further accolade from the Aesthetics Awards 2022 for best injectable product.
It gives the skin a glow, improving the health and appearance. Depending on your skin issues, it can be used for all ages.
The subtle changes have made it a popular ‘tweakment’ for the face, neck, decolletage, but also body areas including the crepey upper inner arms, and abdomens.
For the face and neck, ten ‘bioaesthetic’ points are marked out and injected with 0.2mls of the Profhilo. This does sting a little, but is not painful. As the Profhilo is ‘runnier’ than conventional dermal fillers, it spreads 2cm around the injection site, to hydrate deeply within the skin. The second treatment needs to be done four weeks later. Then every 3-4 months another session of one.
Profhilo is not a dermal filler, it is unique high strength (64mg) hyaluronic acid. If you have volume loss on your face, you will get skin tightening from the Profhilo, however, dermal fillers may be indicated first.
Recently, Profhilo Body has been launched, previously we were using the standard Profhilo, this has now progressed to a Body pack including the Profhilo, specific templates, for ease of body marking pre-treatment and a beautiful post-treatment cream called Figura, with clinically proven efficacy, to encourage further remodelling and toning.
Profhilo Haenkenium face moisturiser is also popular as a daily application to improve skin hydration and reduce the damaging effects of free radical damage.
There have been millions of Profhilo treatments performed worldwide without no serious side effects being reported, although please do have a thorough consultation first with your Medical Aesthetic Practitioner to check your health status and be fully assessed.
